Marc will be part of this year’s edition of the 24 Hours of Zolder.

Delahaye Racing Team has announced it will be competing in this year’s edition of the 24 Hours of Zolder. The team has signed up a top-rank line-up (Kumpen-Goossens-Soulet-Sougnez) who will join the battle against the GT’s with the newly acquired Mégane Silhouette.

“For a couple of years now, Delahaye Racing Team (DRT) has been wishfully thinking about entering  its Mégane Trophy Endurance in a 24 Hour Race in Belgium.”, says Pierre Sevrin, co-manager of DRT, “but the regulations didn’t allow us nor other silhouettes. From the moment we knew that the 24 Hours of Zolder would be an open race for GT’s, touring cars and silhouettes, we  started up a project to enter the race.”

Next to DRT’s car, there will be other BTCS-silhouettes participating in the 24 hour race. DRT has proven its experience in endurance racing. Not only did they score two victories in the 12 Hours of Spa, this year they came in second after a heated battle between the winner Audi A4 Silhouette driven by Marc.  However, if they hadn’t experienced all those setbacks, they would have won the race, as the Mégane was the fastest car on track.

In 2008 DRT obtained a second place in the 24 Hours of Dubai, where they also had to compete against GT2 and GT3 cars, so the team is quite optimistic that a good result can be achieved.  ”Our Mégane in BTCS-configuration is an inexhaustible and indestructible endurance animal where there’s a real chance of a podium.”, Pierre Sevrin adds.

To take up the challenge against Ferrari, Porsche, Dodge, Aston Martin, Audi, Lamborghini and BMW, Delahaye has combined a true dreamteam. The foursome has gathered a whole of 10 victories – four won by Kumpen (2000-2002-2002-2003) and four by “The Goose” (1997-1998-2005-2007), but also Maxime Soulet who put the flags out in 2006 and 2007. BTCS-youngster Ludovic Sougnez will join them to carry off the palm.

“We will try to fully prepare everything and therefore we gathered a strong and balanced team.  They can keep up a tight rhythm, without straining the car. And should we have some setbacks, forcing us to crank it up a notch, no need to explain that these men are up to the challenge!”, Gilles Terlinden foresees. The team is planning a first test in Zolder on August 13th.

The 24 Hours of Zolder will take place on August 22nd and 23rd.
