Marc scores two 5th places in Assen at the Rizla Racing Days
This weekend, two races for the Benelux Racing Leage were run in Assen during the Rizla Racing Days. The first race was on Saturday and the second one on Sunday. Marc scored a 5th place in both races
Race 1
In turn 1 immediately after the start, another competitor bumped into the rear end of Marc’s car. This caused him to run wide and slightly off track. For the next turn, as Marc was still on the outside of the field, he was forced to run wide through the dirt. This hole situation dropped him back into 16th place by the time the pack got into turn 3. At the end of the first lap, Marc was back in 12th place. As he continued making his way through the pack, Marc finished race 1 in 6th place.
After the race, some contestants got penalties causing Marc to move up into 5th place in the definitive result. Because of the top 8 starting in reversed order for race 2, this means he starts the race on Sunday in 4th position.
Race 2
Marc had a good start from 4th position, coming out of turn 1 in 1st place. Although he could build a comfortable lead in the opening laps, the speed wasn’t good enough. So Marc got caught by the 2nd and 3rd place cars. Whilst defending his 1st position, Marc got crashed out of the lead 3 laps from the end. He was able to get going again and finally finished the race in 5th position.
