ProSpeed Competition drivers take a look ahead to the 2010 season
This coming weekend respectively on the Paul Ricard circuit and Circuit Zolder the Le Mans Series and the Belcar Endurance Championship take off. ProSpeed Competition is entering top cars in both these championships, namely an InterOffice ProSpeed Porsche 911 GT3 RSR in the LM GT2 class in the Le Mans Series and two Porsche 911 GT3 R in the Belcar. The team drivers take a look ahead to the coming season.
Le Mans Series
Richard Westbrook (GB)
Richard Westbrook : “Following our period in the FIA GT2, we’ve now landed up in a new situation and in a new championship. The battle in LM GT2 will be exceptionally hard fought, especially seeing our main competitor’s of last season, AF Corse and CRS will also be back in action. I reckon that whoever can beat AF Corse will come close to clinching the title in the Le Mans Series. I’m truly pleased to be working with ProSpeed Competition for the third season in a row, we grew together and our title of last season was the cherry on the cake. The team is a close-knit family, and the young talented Marco Holzer has also blended in perfectly.”
Marco Holzer (Dui)
Marco Holzer : “I can hardly wait for the start; even the test days were really exciting. It’s now of major importance for us to quickly acclimatise to the details of this new championship. On a personal font I obviously need to adjust to the presence of the faster prototypes, as you need to be permanently on the alert. But the battle in GT2 will be fabulous, especially with such names as Jean Alesi and Giancarlo Fisichella on the grid.”

Belcar
Marc Goossens (Bel)
Marc Goossens : “I’m delighted to be working with Rudi Penders and his team once more. Taking into account the car, the team and the driver combination I reckon we must definitely be up amongst the favourites. Back in 2007 together with Maxime Soulet and Porsche we did in fact win the 24 Hours of Zolder, so the combination seems to work. However the Porsche 911 GT3 R is a new car and the level in this championship is very high, just look at all the names in GT3, and it definitely won’t be plain sailing. I’m also delighted to see that the Belcar has once again reached its level of earlier years, with strong teams, all the top names and a solid field. For the first time since winning my Belcar title back in 2005 I’m having another stab at a national title, and I’m extremely motivated.”
Maxime Soulet (Bel)
Maxime Soulet : “I’m the newcomer in the team and I received a fantastic welcome. You immediately get the feeling that this is a team at an international level, everything and everyone is geared to one another. Together with Marc I reckon we should be aiming high in this championship and a second national title, following that won in 2007, is in fact on my wish list. Up until now the tests have all run smoothly and I’m really looking forward to this new season.”
Ruben Maes (Bel)
Ruben Maes : “I have just completed a few laps and the new Porsche 911 GT3 R is quite simply fantastic. The car is one level up from the Porsche 911 Cup S, especially when it comes to road holding. Fast bends with this car are a dream … I have driven various types of Porsche 911 in the past and in my opinion this Porsche 911 GT3 R is undoubtedly the best out of a whole row of brilliant cars. I also have the impression that my team-mate, Enzo Ide, also feels great in the car and this gives confidence for the first race. I reckon that if we work hard and well together we might surprise quite a few people.”
Enzo Ide (Bel)
Enzo Ide : “I was introduced to the team and the car today and everything was up to expectations. We’ve been working hard and I feel that I’m progressing step by step. How are we going about it? Well I complete a few laps and then come in to compare my experiences with Ruben (Maes), after which we check out the data with Marc Maton (data-analyst). For example it soon became apparent that I wasn’t exerting enough pressure on the brake pedal and so I adapted my style during the following run, after which I noticed that my lap times had become sharper, something which obviously is highly motivating, not only for myself but for Ruben and the entire team. This is how we have been working throughout the day and by the evening we have inched another step closer to achieving a good result. I really enjoy working in this way.”
