First point finish for the XKR GT2 in Lime Rock

Yesterday in Lime Rock the 5th round of the 2010 ALMS championship was run.  The JaguarRSR team got their first points by finishing 9th in the GT2 class.

Upfront Lime Rock was an unknown track for Marc. “From studying on-board footage, it seems like a nice race track with elevation changes and a combination of some faster corners and some tighter chicanes. I look forward to competing there for the first time and doing the best we can to put on a good show for all our guests and fans.” Marc told before the race weekend.

On a very wet track, Ryan Dalziel qualified the Jaguar 11th in GT2. In contrast to the weather conditions of the day before, Marc could take the start of the race in dry and humid circumstances on Saturday. After less than 30 minutes in the race, the Jaguar was hit from behind by another car. There was no significant damage to the car, but a right mirror was broken. Marc was forced to go back to the pits for repairs, as the regulations obligate 2 undamaged mirrors. The JaguarRSR-team fixed the car and Marc could resume his race. At half-way point in the race, Marc’s teammate Ryan Dalziel took place in the XKR GT2.

In normal conditions Ryan would finish the race, but the by heat exhausted Scottish driver stopped 20 minutes before the end and so, unexpected, “The Goose” finished the race. “It started off in the wet, and today it was very hot and humid.” told Marc. Our biggest enemy in the race was the heat. The ambient temperature was high and that makes for a very warm race in the car. The JaguarRSR XKR GT was consistent throughout the entire race, but just needed some more grip to be faster. However, the car ran flawless this weekend and we seem to have gotten past the issues that have been haunting us, that is a big step forward.”.

Goossens/Dalziel were 9th in GT2. This top-10-finish means the first points for JaguarRSR. Graf/Pickett won the race overall with a Porsche RS Spyder and Bergmeister/Long were the best in GT2.
