Marc behaalde een prachtig resultaat tijdens zijn eerste wedstrijd van 2012. Na een spannende race, finishten The Goose en zijn teamgenoten met hun Porsche van The Racer’s Group als 2de in de GT-klasse van de Rolex 24 at Daytona. Ze hadden slechts 9.412 seconden achterstand op de winnaars van Magnus Racing die een soortgelijke wagen bestuurden.

On Friday morning, just after the 5th and last practice session, Marc sounded optimistic for his 6th 24 Hours of Daytona.
“Practice and qualifying went smoothly and according to plan. Steven Bertheau was our qualifying-driver and did put the car on the 40th position in the GT-class. As he drove qualifying, he is obliged to take the start of the race. After the last practice session on Thursday evening, the team started to put the Porsche in race-trim for the 24 hours. As the teams are only allowed to work until a specific hour in the evening, they finished this job on Friday morning. During the final 2 practice sessions on Friday, which were held in rainy conditions, we did the shake-down of the car to verify if it was ready for the 24 hours. Right now (Fridayafternoon) we are practicing pitstops and driver changes. It’s important to tune the seat positions and the length of the seatbelts for the different drivers to each other correctly in order to have quick stops.

Op vrijdagmiddag, net na de 5de en laatste trainingssessie, klonk Marc optimistisch voor zijn 6de 24 Uren van Daytona.
“Onze trainingen en de kwalificatie zijn probleemloos en volgens plan verlopen. Steven Bertheau nam de qualifying voor zijn rekening en zette de wagen op de 40ste positie in de GT-klasse. Aangezien hij de kwalificatie reed, neemt hij morgen ook de start. Na de laatste training op donderdagavond begon het team met het in race-trim brengen van onze Porsche. Aangezien er maar tot een bepaald uur gewerkt mocht worden, voltooiden ze op vrijdagmorgen de klus. Tijdens de trainingen op vrijdag, die in regenomstandigheden plaatsvonden, werd de shake-down gedaan om te controleren of de wagen klaar was voor de 24 Uren. Nu (vrijdagmiddag) zijn we onze pitstops met bijbehorende rijderswissels aan het oefenen. Het is belangrijk om de zitposities en de lengte van de gordels voor de verschillende piloten goed op elkaar af te stemmen om de stops vlot te laten verlopen. Continue Reading »

Marc Goossens zal op 28 januari voor de 6de keer aan de start verschijnen van de 24 Uren van Daytona. De regerend Belcar-kampioen zal een Porsche 911 van The Racer’s Group delen met Wolf Henzler, Spencer Pumpelly en Steven Bertheau.

ProSpeed Competition drivers Maxime Soulet and Marc Goossens were honored at the 2011 Night of Champions, the traditional Porsche Motorsport prize-giving ceremony. Each year, Porsche Motorsport honors their best worldwide private Porsche race drivers. Thanks to his FIA GT3 European Championship performances and the Belcar Endurance champion title, Maxime Soulet finished 4th overall worldwide. Winner of the Belcar Endurance title, the Le Mans Series runner-up Marc Goossens was classified 10th. Members of the ProSpeed Competition family, David Loix and Markus Palttala were also mentioned. For the occasion, the CPL Trans-Round Up Porsche 911 GT3-R was displayed at the entrance of the Porsche AG Research & Development Centre Casino, Weissach, Germany.
